A fifteen-year-old man was killed and three others were injured, including an agent: This is the first real, yet makeshift shooting on U Street in Washington DC, considered the heart of African Americans. The city is full of restaurants, bars and shops. The shooting took place at around 6pm on the sidelines of the “Mosella” concert, an unrecognized music festival in support of greater social justice. The event featured a series of concerts on the occasion of the new national holiday, Jundeint, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Police decided to stop the concert for security reasons as there were several incidents, first fights, second episode as people dispersed and some were trampled before the shooting. Police seized several weapons, all four of which were not shot weapons. Police are searching for the culprit.
A 16-year-old girl has been killed in another shooting in Washington, D.C., but in the south-east, where crime and violence rates are high. The police have lodged a complaint but the culprit has not been identified yet.
