Kovit is today an ‘aggressive’ cluster in central Beijing, China

In China, mass tests against the corona virus in Beijing’s most populous district, Chongqing, caused a “deadly” epidemic in the region, a spokesman for local administrator Xu Hejian said at a news conference. For the first three days from today, locals will be screened for Govt-19, the Municipal Health Authority explained. The decision follows the detection of 166 “cluster infections” related to a supermarket bar in Chongqing from Thursday to yesterday. Of these cases, 145 were bar customers. Yesterday 29 cases of local infection and 22 asymptomatic cases were confirmed.

“It simply came to our notice then. Identifying the source of the cluster, managing and controlling the risks is the most urgent task at the moment, and Xu said Beijing must prevent the appearance of “epidemic amplifiers”.

The two buildings where hundreds of residents live on the Chong campus have been isolated after a positive lawsuit. Large metal blocks have been installed around the premises. Staff in disinfectant-equipped fire extinguishers entered the building and security and police officers were on duty at the exit points. Several nearby businesses were temporarily isolated by police tape and security guards arrived to block exits.
