Tom Hanks wondered why Tim Allen wasn’t asked to voice Buzz Light year.
When the movie was announced, many assumed Allen would voice the character. However, it was revealed that Chris Evans will do just that.
Evans defended his choice, explaining that the movie was not based on the game, but rather on the real-life astronaut who inspired the game within the Pixar universe. Meanwhile, director Angus MacLean Describing the decision as “deliberate”.

When it was commented that it was Evans in the role, he said, “Yeah, yeah, I know.”
He continued, “Here’s the thing: I want to go back to the stage with a bunch of strangers and go away with something in common. That’s what I want to do, and I’m going to watch a movie with him.” [Allen] – I’m looking forward to it.”
Hanks and Allen have remained friends since they voiced the characters in the first Toy Story movie, which was released in 1995. They returned for three sequels in 1999, 2010 and 2019.
