the Queen I may have decided to skip the concert that was held as part of it Platinum Jubilee The festivities, but that didn’t stop her from stealing the show with a surprise role in a sketch to start the event.
Spectators and the live audience watched in glee as Paddington Bear found his way into the corridors of Buckingham Palace, where he soon sat down to tea with Her Majesty. Within five minutes, he was pouring her a cup of tea and they were comparing sandwiches of marmalade.
Later in the evening, two royal princes took to the stage to express their personal affection during the platinum ceremony at the Palace, on the third evening of the Jubilee Weekend celebrations in the UK.
Princes Charles and William took turns speaking to the crowd, including 22,000 front-line workers who had tickets for the concert in front of Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s official home in London.
Charles, the king’s eldest son, stood on stage alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, and paid a personal tribute to his mother. “Thank you from your family, country, Commonwealth, indeed from the whole world. On behalf of all of us, I wanted to commend myself for your dedicated service throughout your life, in pictures, words and light.” (Cue lights amazingly hovering around the palace)
“Your family is now four generations. You are our Head of State and you are also our Mother. We miss your strength and accommodation (the late Duke of Edinburgh) very much this evening. But I’m sure he’s here in spirit. My father would have enjoyed the show, and he would have wholeheartedly joined us in celebrating all that you continue to do for your country and people.
“We think of all you have done to make the Commonwealth a force for good. You continue to make history.
“I know what wakes my mother in the morning is all of you, ladies and gentlemen. You all watch at home… Your Majesty, you have been with us through our difficult times and gathered us together to celebrate moments of pride, joy and happiness.
“You’ve met and talked with us, laughed and cried with us, and most importantly, you’ve been there for us for 70 years. You’ve pledged to serve your whole life. You keep delivering. That’s why we’re here. That’s what we celebrate tonight… That’s why we say Everyone, thank you.”
His eldest son, William, praised the efforts of the royal family, especially in preserving wildlife and protecting the land.
“While no one’s grandmother thanks them for talking about their ages, my grandmother has been alive for nearly a century…
“The urgent need to protect our planet has never been more urgent. Like her, I am an optimist.”
Diana RossNile Rodgers and Alicia Keys joined local British household names such as Quinn, Sir Rod Stewart and Sir Elton John in the concert.
