European men under 20 even overtook Greece

The Under-20 Men’s National Team is playing a great game and after an opening win against Portugal, they beat Greece (89-78) on the second day of the ongoing European Championship in Montenegro.

Despite an uphill start, coach Alessandro Macro’s boys went on a 10-0 run at the crucial moment between the first and second quarters to lead 11-21 to 21-21. A decisive stretch in the second half saw the Greeks unable to keep up with the Azzurro.

The first win over Portugal, today’s 86-90 overtime win over Israel, gets an even more interesting outline. With these results the Azzurri lead Group B with two wins ahead of Portugal and Israel (1/1). Greece is at the bottom with 2 defeats.
The group will conclude with a match against Israel on Monday 18 July at 16.30 (live streaming YouTube FIBA).

Alfredo Boglio was the high scorer of the day with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Leonardo Okeke in double figures (15), 6/7 and 1/1 + 4 rebounds and Luca Vincini (10 points) were almost perfect from the field. A typical game from David Cassar, author of 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
