Lakers’ LeBron James Is The First Active NBA Player To Become A Billionaire: Report

Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James, is now a billionaire, He became the first active player in the NBA To achieve this feat, according to Forbes.

The only other NBA player to become a billionaire is Michael Jordan, who didn’t become one until after his playing days.

In 2011, James’s sports marketing group became involved with Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool FC and Fenway Park. Forbes estimates that his investment is now worth $90 million.

James said, “It’s great to be with such a great group, with FSG. They’ve done so many great things over the course of the year, and just that collective group of people, it’s so great to be a partner with them”, According to the LA Times. “In terms of the Red Sox, it’s clearly a historic franchise and we know the history of the World Series tournaments they brought home to Boston and the players who came from there and the legacy they carry in that region.”

“So, I think for me and my partner, Maverick, to be the first two black men to be part of that ownership group in the history of this franchise, I think it’s pretty amazing,” James continued.

James has not been shy about expressing his desire to own the NBA franchise one day, telling reporters last year that NBA ownership is a goal for him.

James also made about $300 million from The Spring Hill Co. , a venture that he and business partner Maverick Carter created in 2007. Spring Hill helped produce “Space Jam: A New Legacy”.

While James is now a billionaire, NBA fans won’t see him on the field until the 2022-2023 season after his Lakers team failed to make the postseason for the second time since arriving in Los Angeles.
