The eruption covered the islands in ashes, disrupted the supply of basic necessities and cut off telephone, internet and electricity communications. A. to the tsunami Significant impact New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Artern has said boats and large boulders have washed ashore off the north coast of Nuku’aloba, the capital of the Tongan Islands. The islands of Tonga may be without internet for another two weeks as the eruption disrupts the communication cable beneath the sea. Dean Weverka, director of networks at the Southern Cross Cable Network, said we were only getting partial information but the cable seemed to be disconnected, adding that it could take up to two weeks to fix it.

What a tsunami
Fifteen minutes after the eruption, the tsunami hit the capital of Tonga: at 15.30 local time in Nuku’aloba, the wave was about 1.2 meters. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places on the west coast of the United States, Canada and Japan. Here is the video of the explosion seen from space
